A complete guide to subjects, marks distribution, and examination structure for the 2026–27 academic session.
Every Class X student appearing before the Punjab School Education Board must sit for eight subjects spanning three groups — with passing all of Group-A being an absolute requirement for the certificate.
Total of 650 marks across 8 subjects. Pass in all 6 Group-A subjects is mandatory. Students must appear in 2 Group-B subjects. A minimum of 33% marks is required separately in Theory, Practical, and INA — as well as in aggregate.
Group A — Compulsory Subjects
These six subjects are the foundation of Class X studies. Every candidate must pass in each of them. Question papers and evaluation are conducted at the Board level.

Group B — Elective & Skill Subjects
Candidates must appear in two Group-B subjects. Marks and grades are reflected on the final certificate, though passing Group-B subjects is not mandatory for promotion. Evaluation of elective and NSQF subjects is conducted at the school level.

The practical examination for Computer Science is conducted at the Board level through external examiners — unlike other subjects where practical exams are held at the school level.

NSQF Trades — National Skill Qualification Framework
Students may opt for any one NSQF trade in lieu of an elective subject. All trades carry 40 Theory + 50 Practical + 10 INA = 100 marks (except Physical Education: 30+50+20).
Group C — Activity-Based Subject
Welcome Life (ਸਵਾਗਤ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ) (Code 92) is an activity-based subject. Marks are awarded under the INA component and are reflected on the certificate. No written examination is conducted for this subject.
ਸਵਾਗਤ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਕਿਰਿਆ/ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀ ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਕ INA ਅਧੀਨ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
Welcome Life is an activity-based subject for which marks are given under INA.
Grading System
For all Group-B subjects, marks are converted to grades that appear on the final certificate. Computer Science follows the same scale but uses "US" (Unsatisfactory) instead of "E" for marks below 33%.

Key Examination Rules
- i Total Marks & Subjects: The examination carries 650 marks in total. Each candidate must appear in 8 subjects — passing all 6 Group-A subjects is mandatory, and appearing in 2 Group-B subjects is compulsory. ਇਸ ਪਰੀਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਕੁੱਲ 650 ਅੰਕ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਹਰੇਕ ਪਰੀਖਿਆਰਥੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੁੱਲ ਅੱਠ (08) ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਰੀਖਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ Group-A ਦੇ 6 ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਸ ਹੋਣਾ ਅਤੇ Group-B ਦੇ ਦੋ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਪੀਅਰ ਹੋਣਾ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਹੈ।
- ii Minimum Pass Marks: A minimum of 33% marks must be secured separately in Theory, Practical, and INA — as well as 33% in the overall aggregate. ਲਿਖਤੀ, ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗੀ ਅਤੇ INA ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਖਰੇ-ਵੱਖਰੇ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਕੁੱਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ ਘੱਟੋ-ਘੱਟ 33% ਅੰਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
- iii Group-B Certificate Reflection: Marks and grades obtained in Group-B subjects are reflected on the certificate as per the grading scale above. ਗਰੁੱਪ-B ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਪੀਅਰ ਹੋਣਾ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਅੰਕ ਤੇ ਗਰੇਡ ਹੇਠ ਦਰਜ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਰਸਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
- iv Question Papers: Question papers for all Group-A and Group-B subjects are provided by the Punjab School Education Board. ਗਰੁੱਪ-A ਅਤੇ ਗਰੁੱਪ–B ਅਧੀਨ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਪੱਤਰ ਬੋਰਡ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
- v Evaluation Responsibility: Group-A subjects are evaluated at the Board level. Elective and NSQF subjects are evaluated at the school level. Computer Science practical is an exception — evaluated at Board level by external examiners. ਗਰੁੱਪ-A ਦੇ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੁਲਾਂਕਣ ਬੋਰਡ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਜਦ ਕਿ ਚੋਣਵੇਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ (ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ) ਅਤੇ NSQF ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੁਲਾਂਕਣ ਸਕੂਲ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
- vi Elective & NSQF Question Papers: Question papers for elective and NSQF subjects will be prepared by the Board. ਚੋਣਵੇਂ ਅਤੇ NSQF ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਪੱਤਰ ਬੋਰਡ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
- vii Practical Exams (Other Subjects): Except for Computer Science, no Board question papers are provided for practical exams of other subjects. These are conducted entirely at the school level. Computer Science ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗੀ ਪਰੀਖਿਆ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਬਾਕੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗੀ ਪਰੀਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਬੋਰਡ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਪੱਤਰ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਪਰੀਖਿਆ ਸਕੂਲ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੇ ਲਈ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
- ix Computer Science Practical: The practical examination for Computer Science shall be conducted at the Board level through external examiners. Computer Science ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗੀ ਪਰੀਖਿਆ ਬੋਰਡ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੇ ਹੀ external examiners ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
- x Welcome Life: This activity-based subject is assessed under INA only. No written Board examination is held for this subject. ਸਵਾਗਤ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਕਿਰਿਆ/ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀ ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਕ INA ਅਧੀਨ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
